Hi, I am Lance, and I am currently working towards my life time goal of financial freedom. I am a personal finance nerd and an investing addict. Seriously, I am addicted. If you were to go up to anyone that knows me and ask, they would vouch for me. I was not always this way though. When I was younger, I believed that I would always have to live my life worrying about money. I did not think there was a way to be financially secure without a traditional job (please keep in mind that working for an employer is alright if you enjoy it). I thought this because this is the general belief of society.  Working at a job that you do not enjoy can bring misery, depression, and a low feeling of self worth. I used to feel this way. Then, with a little help and a little chance, I was shown that this did not need to be my fate. At 17, I was gifted a book by a family member. The book was Cashflow Quadrant by Robert Kiyosaki. Say what you will about the author, this book is an incredible read. As soon as I finished reading it, I decided I would work towards acquiring financial freedom.

Now, I view financial freedom as freedom from the worry of money. I would like all of my assets to cover my liabilities and my expenses. I plan on using investing, side hustles, businesses, and my job to obtain it. Yes, I still have a  job while I work on all of this. Having that additional source of income is helpful because it stabilizes my financial situation and it allows me to carry out riskier ventures. Financial freedom has become a near obsession of mine, and it all started with that one book.

After reading that book, I didn’t know how I was going to start my journey to financial freedom. After all, I was 17 and my only work experience at the time was as a “sandwich artist” at Subway. I thought I could possibly start a business, but I didn’t know where to start. Then, one day, I was pulled out of class by my high school music teacher, marched to the front of the building, and I was told to speak with the office manager about providing music lessons ( I play guitar). Boom! I had my first business idea. I spoke with the office manager, and she explained that the lessons would be for her grandchildren. She provided me with her daughter’s contact information, I made the call, and then I had my first couple of music students. My first business was named “Stay Tuned Music Lessons”.

Fast forward several years, and I am now in my twenties. I am still working towards my goal of financial freedom. I no longer teach music because I actually grew tired of it. It was not how I wanted to reach my goal, but I still value the experience I obtained from it. Plus, it also helped me land some great jobs while I worked towards my goal. I actually landed a job in IT because I taught the children of a business owner. While working at that job, I started another company designing websites for small businesses. This one was much more profitable than my music teaching business, but it was still was not for me. Once again, my entrepreneurial experience landed me another great job with some very kind employers. This job provides me with financial stability as I work towards my goal. I have now been through 4 business attempts in total (one of which I am actively working on), a slew of side hustles, and I invest like a mad man.

The point of this blog is to share my entrepreneurial and investing knowledge with you. I believe that every person should work towards obtaining financial freedom even if they do not plan on retiring. So please, make sure to check out every article on this blog if you can. If you were able to make it to the end of this abnormally long about page, then you can surely read most of the articles on this website. Thank you for reading!
